Qualifying Round
I've just returned from the celebration at ye Olde Pub, where needless to say we all celebrated a day that turned out better than we could have hoped. Considering that Todd had drawn to skate 1st in the toughest group, we figured that the most we could hope for was 3rd place, provided he did everything or close to everything in his program. But of course, for him to actually finish second in his group, considering the makeup of that group, was way more than we could have hoped for. Just to recap, Todd skated what had to be the best free skate performance he's had since the Goodwill Games in 1998. Granted the quad was tripled, and he was able to do only one combination (triple Axel/triple Toe), but everything else was landed (including the dreaded Salchow!) for a smashing 8 triple performance. The audience was on its feet before the closing scratch spin, and of course we went totally nuts, leading someone in the section where Leah Adams was sitting to look over at us and wonder if we were all Eldredge family members...members of obviously a very large family indeed
In addition to Todd's results, we were also celebrating the results of the fellow who (thanks to the tireless campaign of yours truly
Todd has a short program practice tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm at the PNE rink, a good three hours before the start of the event.
