Stars on Ice - Anaheim, CA 01/18/03

Overall, the show was fabulous. Definitely the best SOI I've seen so far (which has only been the past three years). The audience was a little blah, but to be expected for an Orange County, CA, audience. No standing ovations were given. Almost everyone was clean, with the exception of Jenny Meno going down on the throw double axel.

Todd was great. He landed a *huge* triple axel and triple toe in the opening number. I really like the amount of footwork he was doing, especially the stuff that was going opposite of his direction. That stuff is not easy, let me tell you :o). "Channel One Suite" was good and it got a good response. I hadn't seen it before and it works well for him. I was really impressed with "Misere". It was awesome. I think it is now at the top of my list of favorite Todd numbers. He was spot on and it flowed beautifully. The jury, though, is still out on "Power Play", although it did feature some nice skating. I do think Stars on Ice works well for Todd. It was good to see him in the group numbers and he fits into the cast really well.

Other highlights: Alexei. Everything he did was great, especially "Racing". Roca and Sur's "The Prayer". I was in awe and so was everyone around me. Gorgeous. Meno and Sand's "I'm Your Man". It was great to see the ham in Todd S. And what can I say, John Zimmerman in jeans and a cowboy hat :o). That was worth the price of the ticket alone.

Well, I guess that's all for now.
