Todd did not make it to the V jam concert on Friday night (his birthday) because he got into Raleigh too late that night. He was able to play a practice round of golf on Saturday at the Prestonwoods country club.
The Big Event: Todd teed off from the first hole of the fairways course at around 9:30 a.m. He was paired with 4 other golfers that were sponsors of the tournament (the usual was 1-2 celebrities in each pairing and the remainder of the 5 were sponsors). The other 2 celebrities that teed off from the first hole (Prestonwoods has 3 - 18 hole courses) were Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.
I caught up with Todd at the third hole and he was very friendly with all of the fans waiting on autographs and pictures (and there were many of them at each hole albeit only a few who followed from hole to hole). I was able to personally give Todd a birthday card and that alone made my trip worthwhile.
I walked along the golf course as Todd played until about the seventh hole and then had to go see some other celebrities (my brother is a University of Kentucky fan and so therefore I had to get my picture taken with Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith to make him jealous).
I again caught back up with Todd on the 15th hole and finished up the course with him. Todd's team finished 14 under (I think this is the correct golf terminology - the end of the sign said "14"). I am not sure where this ranks in the whole of all the teams that played (79 teams total). I do know that Todd was happy with the score.
A couple of questions that Todd answered on the course: His next competition is in Charleston, September 25th (The Grand Slam). He celebrated his birthday the evening before (i.e., 8/27/98). He enjoyed playing in Scott's tournament a couple weeks prior and Scott is doing well after his (bone spur) surgery.
