All Right - Here I go

Last nights competition was definitely worth the trip from NYC, let me tell you. In my opinion, the men certainly deserved the win. But before I write any more, I must address something.

Todd's Hair Looked Grrrrrrrreeeeaaaat. Thank You

First of all, I was lucky enough to be sitting in the front row so I was able to catch every adorable and hysterical expression of the evening (most of which came from our Todd) One reason for the hysteria was the condition of the ice. I use the word "ice" loosely because I couldn't see any ice under the inch and a half of water. It was practically a swimming competition out there. Apparently Todd thought so too because in the middle of his warm up he began gliding down center ice pretending to be in water. First, using his hands as a fish, then fishing, then pushing, painfully through the "water" then ended with a lovely forward and backstroke. I think "the fish" and "the swim" were somewhere in there too.

He also seemed to scold the ice after one fall in his warm up. (Let's see if I can describe this...) He attempted what looked like a 3 lutz and had an awkward fall to which he shook himself back up, shimmied the ice/water off himself rather like a dog, took a good look at the ice where he fell and forcefully gestured to it with both hands - then wagged a finger at it sternly before gliding in my direction rubbing his wet and probably sore butt!!!

Todd was quite the comedian last night. But not quite as comical as the incredibly loud woman directly behind me, who - as Todd passed right in front of us attempting to rub the ice/water off his butt - yelled out "Ya need a hand with that????" forcing a surprised Todd to turn and look directly at ME. As If!!!!!! Needless to say I am scarred for life. The Sheer Horror.

The new Carmina was really something else. I think it is even more powerful than the first, however most of the changes were on the softer side. But now, the program has more of a "build" to it. The announcer said, "Ladies and Gentleman - This man is a Champion in the Truest Sense of the Word" and Todd looked up surprised and grinning. Todd got the biggest ovation when he took to the ice (some may debate Michelle but I swear Todd's fans have the edge) What this audience didn't make up in flowers they made up in noise. Even half a second before Todd started people were shouting things and whistling at him. There is some new great footwork near the end of Carmina to look out for in the broadcast. But unfortunately I didn't take any good notes cause Todd Nailed Everything. Period. He was captivating and received the first standing O of the night (Michelle was the other) As he left the ice he picked up some wet flowers that were thrown, spotted a baby girl propped up on the side of the rink, went over to her and kissed her on the cheek. I melted ... as the ice continued to....For technical he received (someone correct me if I'm wrong) only 5.8's and 5.9's. For artistry he received the same plus a 6.0 which he truly deserved.

Todd was goofy in the kiss n cry, (making fun of Michelle and Sarah a lot) goofy during his bows (not as goofy as Matt Savoy who on bowing, fell and slid on his rear end after never hitting the ice during his beautiful program)

Todd watching some of the first half, directly to the left of my row. I don't know how I spotted him since he wasn't in costume and was wearing a white T-shirt. ( As if I wasn't constantly on the look out...) He never seemed to stop talking and smiling to everyone around him (mostly coaches) All in all, Todd looked charming and relaxed and absolutely handsome. Jealous?!?!

On a non-Todd note, Elvis was there and boy did he make me laugh! In a good way! I hope the televise his exhibition!
