Canadian Stars on Ice - Vancouver, BC 5/14/02

I just got home from the Stars on Ice show a little while ago. This is not a review (I'm not good at those), just a few general impressions.

Overall, I really enjoyed it! There was an excellent crowd.

To my surprise, I enjoyed Todd Eldredge the most. He skated with a lot of speed, emotion and as usual had excellent spins. I think his jumps were the cleanest of the nights -- triple axels, triple lutz, etc.

Alexei Yagudin seemed to have a bit of an off-night jump-wise and stumbled a few times. The audience just loved him anyways. He sure has a lot of charisma.

Kristi's numbers were both gorgeous and fun. She did a nice triple lutz, among others.

Brian's and Kurt's numbers were so cool. I love those guys.

Shae & Vic's "Sadness" number had some really interesting and creative moves that suited the music.

The ensemble numbers were quite well done, for the most part. My favourite was the Tango by Brian, Kurt & Alexei and also Solitaire by Kurt at the end.

As this was the last stop, at the end there was a short tribute to Brian and Kristi. Kurt said a few words, followed by Lucinda, Alexei and then Brian saying goodbye after 14 years with SOI.

I spotted Steven Cousins and Jennifer Robinson in the audience. They were signing lots of autographs during the intermission and afterwards.

Anyways, those are just some short thoughts.
