Todd Skates in Chevrolet Clinic

News Release From: Chevrolet Communications 1/15/02

Todd Eldredge has a lot to smile about lately seeing that he captured the men's title at the 2002 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles. It was his sixth title and earned him a spot to challenge for Olympic Gold in Salt Lake. But these weren't the only reasons he was smiling lately... because Todd had celebration plans on his mind. Todd and coach Richard Callaghan celebrated the Championships victory by teaming up with Chevrolet and 50 young skating fans on Monday, January 14 in Burbank, Calif. At the Pickwick Ice Center, Eldredge and Callaghan worked with skating fans from age five on up, working on their jumps, spins and polished moves and seeing Todd show off some of his while Callaghan explained the breakdown of each motion.

"It's just nice to be out there with the skaters," said Eldredge. "The younger ones are great, they are so enthusiastic. But there were more than just little ones out there today. Some of them were pretty big." A few adults actually had the chance to try and emulate Todd's moves, as they won the opportunity through the "Chevy Skating Spectactular Sweepstakes." The sweepstakes offered a chance to take part in the one-of-a-kind "Chevy Todd Eldredge Skating Clinic," and age was no matter.

"Todd has been so great to work with on this project," said Dianne Harper, Chevrolet spokesperson. "This is the third clinic that he has taken part in with Chevroley and he has been wonderful with the kids."

Chevrolet will continue to support Todd and his teammates that are Olympic-bound as it is a sponsor of the United States Figure Skating Association. Too, Todd and other skaters will take part in the Olympic Torch Relay co-sponsored by Chevrolet.
