Todd had surgery today to replace his left hip. After years of triple jumps and elite level competitive skating, his landing leg needed some shorring up. The surgery was performed in Naples, Florida and according to Todd, his doctor was pleased with how well it went. Todd expects to be up and around again in 5 or 6 weeks, and to be able to get back on the ice in several months. He's upbeat and positive about the outcome, and looks forward to skating in shows next fall.

 March 16, 2012
Todd has spent the winter touring with Stars on Ice. After premiering December 30th in Lake Placid, the tour picked up with dates in Japan in January and then began touring in the US. Although the tour is abbreviated, with only 10 stops in in the US this year, it has been playing to large and appreciative crowds.

Todd skates in the opening number "A Suite of Stars" where he can be heard on the recorded accompanyment quoting Ghandi! Todd's first act program is the "The Waiter's Gallop" a comic number from Hello Dolly. Todd is also in several transition segments in the first act where he, John Kerr, Ryan Bradley and Ilia Kulik play a Four Season's like group who are performing but Ilia can't seem to get the moves down. The transitions are very clever and cute, and Todd is very well suited to that era of music and movement.

Todd and the cast skate to Adele's Rolling in the Deep in the Act I finale. Todd opens the 2nd act playing the elderly gentleman from the movie 'Up" in the vignette "A Life Loved". His 2nd Act solo is a classic dramatic skate to "Amazed" by Lonestar, which highlights his deep, sweeping edges and fast spins. Todd helps close the show in the finale to "Dog Days are Over."

Check out Todd's Facebook page for photos from Act I and Act II from Stars on Ice. If you're looking for more details about the entire tour, check out a review from Seattle and Wenatche on the Kurtfiles website.

Once tour is over, Todd's life is only going to get busier. He and his fiance Sabrina are expecting their first child in May and will be also moving into a new home. On a somewhat less joyful note, Todd will also be having hip replacement surgery to address a long-standing injury. Rehab post surgery will hopefully have Todd back on his feet and on the ice quickly.

 November 25, 2011
See Todd on tour! Todd will once again be touring with Stars on Ice. The tour is shorter than in previous years with only 10 dates around the U.S. See the schedule page for cities and dates. Todd will also be joining the tour when it goes to Japan in January.

More to come....

 July 13, 2011
In the news this week has been the IRS investigation of Families Giving Back, the charity responsible for the Stars, Skates & Stripes skating shows. Several articles have noted Todd as a performer, however he has never performed in their shows and he released this (revised) statement:

I'm sure by now you've heard and probably read about the allegations of charity fraud for Tara Modlins show Stars, Stripes & Skates. I'm not sure why, but my name is mentioned in both the NY Post article and an ABC News article as being associated with this charity as a participant in their show. There is no reason my name should be mentioned in any article about Stars Stripes & Skates as I have never been asked nor have I participated in any of the shows.
It is likely that the articles are confusing the USFSA memorial show that was also a 9/11 tribute held in October 2001. It is not related to the Stars, Stripes & Skates shows.

May 1, 2011 Todd is currently touring with Stars on Ice, which continues thru April 9th. But Todd is already filling his schedule with appearances throughout the late spring and summer once the tour wraps. New events on Todd's schedule include:

December 4, 2010 Todd had a busy November, first performing in Scott Hamilton's Scott Cares Gala in support of the Cleveland Clinic on November 6 at the Quicken's Loan Arena in Cleveland. Todd skated a number to "Still Learning How to Fly" by Rodney Crowell. He also participated in the opening and closing group numbers to live music performed by Vince Gill.

Shortly after that, Todd went into rehearsals for the 2011 tour of Stars on Ice. The cast had two weeks together to learn group numbers and put the show together, commencing on opening night this past November 27 in Lake Placid, NY. Todd's first act solo was skated to "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra, and to "I've Been This Way Before" by Neil Diamond in the second act. He also participated in the opening group number skated to "I Like It" by Enrique Iglesias, the first act finale which was a 50's dance hall number titled "Knock, Knock,", a mini-group number with Sasha and Kurt skated to "Party in the Park" by Rachel Portman, and the show finale which featured "The Best" by Tina Turner.

The show has gotten great fan reviews. A report on the opening in Lake Placid can be found on the Stars on Ice Message Board. Catch the show near you - see the list of tour stops.

Earlier this month Todd performed at the Smokey Robinson Tribute on Ice in Tampa, Florida. Smokey performed all the songs live which was a real treat. Todd's first number was to "You're the One for Me" and his second was to "Tears of a Clown." Photos from the show are available in the gallery.

  November 3, 2009
On October 30th, Todd performed in the Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular and boy was it a hot number - so not in fact that only 40 seconds in to his first number the fire alarms in the arena went off! There was some momentary confusion with people leaving but it was quickly determined that the lights had set it off. In his many years of skating this one was a first for Todd! Once everything was settled down Todd restarted his first number, from Stars on Ice, "Better Days" by the Goo Goo Dolls. His second number was a new one to "Surround M" by Scott Stapp.

The show was also fun for the skaters off the ice as well. Gymnasts Shawn Johnson and Courtney Kupets showed Todd how to do a spin on the beam and a round off which is apparently a lot harder than it looks. Todd and the guys also all took a go on the rings which they all found ridiculously hard. They all have a new appreciation for the different skills that gymnastics have.

Stars on Ice released it's schedule of tour stops for the 2010 your. The tour will start later this year after the World Championships in order to feature some stars of the eligible world. Dates and ticket information is available at starsonice.com. And for an extra post-Halloween treat some photos from the Halloween on Ice show.

  March 6, 2008
Fear not Todd fans, though Todd was unable to skate his solos in Orlando and Tampa, all is well. In the Orlando opening number Todd hurt his back and was unable to take the strain his solos required. He's rested and had treatment and was back to full routines in Fort Lauderdale and Naples. In fact he's better than ever - Todd's been landing triple axels in practice! Given that Todd first started landing triple axels at the age of 16 that adds up to 20 years of triple axels. Wow! Way to go Todd!

  February 28, 2008

Photos from the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame induction are now posted.

  January 11, 2008

January 8, 2008 It seems that Todd has a bit of an adventure for his first Stars on Ice performance in Japan. United managed to lose his skates for five days and so he performed the first show in skates borrowed from one of the Japanese guys which is why he only performed one solo. Thankfully the skates made their appearance and Todd performed both "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "Nights in White Satin" for the remaining tour stops.

January 7, 2008: Congratulations Todd! Todd has been nominated for the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. He will be formally inducted into the Hall during the 2008 U.S. National Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota. There will be a formal ceremony held during the Friday night events.

Post-holidays found Todd in Japan with Stars on Ice for several dates around Japan. He performed his "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" number from Spamalot which brought the same laughter to Japanese fans as it did to the US fans in Lake Placid. He also skated in the opening, close and the "Hard Steel" ensemble numbers. In mid-December Todd skated in The Music of Seal on Ice in Washington, DC. Todd skated to "Bring It On" and "System" both by Seal. In addition there were group numbers to "Amazing and "Crazy." Also a correction on Todd's version of "Nights in White Satin." Contrary to what the Stars program in Lake Placid read, Todd skates to Mario Frangoulis's version which can be found on his album Sometimes I Dream.

December 8, 2007: Todd premiered two new programs at the SOI tour kick-off performance in Lake Placid, NY over Thanksgiving weekend. His first solo is a comic piece to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from the Broadway show Spamalot. It includes tons of intricate footwork, double-takes and physical comedy - a stylistic departure for Todd. His 2nd act number is a classic Todd dramatic showstopper, skated to U2's version of Nights in White Satin. The program highlights Todd's classic lines, long flowing edges, and smooth, fast flow over the ice. It received a huge reception opening night, and is sure to end up being one of Todd's greatest hits.

Todd also skated in the opening and closing ensemble numbers, as well as a hilarious spoof of '80s heavy metal bands that was the 1st act closer. He used his stars number from last season, Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls for his second solo. Todd also skated in group numbers to "The Sky, The Dawn and the Sun" and "One World" performed live by Celtic Woman. Skate for the Heart will be broadcast on NBC on January 13 from 4-6 pm EST.

December 9, 2006: Stars on Ice Another season of Stars on Ice got under way last month with a fantastic debut in Lake Placid and once again Todd has brought two excellent numbers to the show. The first is "Broken" by Scott Stapp, a strong very emotional number. His second is to "Better Days" by the Goo-Goo Dolls - a hauntingly beautiful power ballad as only the Goos can do. The show opens with music from the Superman soundtrack and the first half closes to a comedy number entitled "Peace, Love, Skating" that features radical sixties costumes and wigs! The second half opens with "The Heist" a jewel robbery mystery piece and this half also includes another guys only baseball number "Swing." After all of this excitement the show finally closes with "I Believe I Can Fly" Be sure to check the tour schedule for a show near you.

Country on Ice Todd performed two new country numbers at Gretchen Wilson's Country on Ice in Philadelphia on November 8th. Both songs were performed live by Gretchen and she definitely rocked the house! The first number was "Politically Uncorrect" from her first album - a fun ironic little tune which allowed Todd to show a more playful side to his skating. Todd was lucky to be the skater chosen to skate the second piece - "Come To Bed" - the brand new single from Gretchen's spring 2007 album. A duet with John Rich, the song is a strong emotional ballad that fit Todd's classic style. The show will air Dec. 23, 2006 from 4-6pm EST on NBC.

Holiday Celebration on Ice: Todd performed two new holiday numbers at the Holiday Celebration on Ice show in Las Vegas on October 20th. First up was "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Michael Ball. His second number was to "I'll Be Home For Christmas" performed live by saxaphonist Dave Koz. Both numbers were great lyrical numbers - classic Todd performances. He also skated in group numbers to "Winter Wonderland / Let It Snow" (complete with cast snowball fight) and a lighthearted "Jingle Bells" in the finale. Holiday Celebration airs December 25, 2006 4-6pm on NBC

Halloween on Ice: For the Halloween on Ice show in Springfield on October 8th, skaters played one spooky Halloween themed character throughout the entire show. Todd was the Monster from Frankenstein, complete with green titned skin and neck bolts! Todd's first number was a version of "Ride of Valkyries" by Mannheim Steamroller and his second was a monster version of "Let Me Entertain You." Both numbers had Todd skating like the monster - arms out and very stiff - very amusing to watch. Todd was also part of three group numbers: "Creatures of the Night / Psycho," "The Monster Mash" and "The Mummy Walk." Click the thumbnail for a larger version of Monster-Todd Halloween on Ice airs October 28th on NBC from 4:30-6pm.

August 18, 2006: At the shows in Dundee and Sun Valley Todd debuted two of his new programs for the upcoming season. The first is "The Boy from Nowhere" by Michael Ball (a ballad from the musical Matador) and the second is "Goodbye Time" by Blake Shelton (a country tune). Both numbers were well received by the audiences. ALso in what can only be typical Todd bad luck, while in Sun Valley he managed to sprain the "good" ankle - thankfully only a minor sprain. Next weekend Todd will once again be participating in the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic in Cary, NC. New to the website is the 2006 gallery with photos from both the US and Canadian Stars on Ice tours.

The pre-sale will run from June 19th at 10am to June 23rd at midnight via the ticketmaster.com website. The password is "Skate". In addition to some one-of-a-kind Halloween performances Mannheim Steamroller will be performing songs from Halloween 2, an original composition and "twisted" arrangement of well-known scary TV shows, movie and pop culture songs, all "deranged" by Grammy award winning composer, Chip Davis. Sounds Spooktacular!

May 21, 2006: Todd appeared in Superstars on Ice at the Skokie Skatium on May 16th. This was Todd's 4th appearance in the annual fundraiser for the skating club located in a Chicago suburb. Other cast members this year included Ilia Kulik, Irina Slutskaya, andYuka Sato and Jason Dunjen. Todd performed both of his solo numbers from this year's Stars on Ice Tour; Alexander's Ragtime Band and Bolero. Even though it was the end of a very long season, Todd's jumps were on, with double axels, triple toe loops and triple salchow's in both numbers, and his trademark speed and fabulous spins.

Todd's ankle held up quite well throughout the very long season. The month off of rest during the Olympics helped make sure he could last all the way through the end of the Canadian tour in May. He is looking forward to using the summer to rest, relax, and finish rehabbing the injury. He will be taking a month off from skating starting in mid-May to be able to concentrate solely on off-ice rehab. He hopes and expects that all the rest and rehab over the summer will mean the ankle will be good as new next season. Todd will be starting his season on August 12th in Sun Valley - details on the schedule page.

May 1, 2006: Todd's schedule for the fall has begun to shape up with Todd confirmed for three of the Disson Skating shows in the fall. Not all casts or ticket onsale dates have been announced but you can see more details on the Schedule page. Also for the 06-07 season Todd will once again be touring the US with Stars on Ice. It's remarkably early for next year's events to be announced so there will still be more to come!

April 12, 2006: There's just two more stops on the US Stars on Ice tour and then Todd is off to rehearsals for the Canadian tour. Todd's ankle has been holding up well, though he's still taking it easy on the harder triples. His plan is to take some significant time off-ice to allow the ankle to fully heal before next season. For fans there's a brand new wallpaper up (thanks Kati!).

April 8, 2006: The US Stars on Ice tour is close to wrapping up and soon Todd will be off to start rehearsals for the Canadian tour. A couple of interesting articles featuring Todd added to the archives. Also Disson Skating has released their schedule of events for next year.   March 15, 2006: Good news Todd fans! The month off from tour did Todd's ankle a lot of good. He's currently got three of his triples back, the toe, salchow and loop. He's still being careful with the ankle but is pleased to have at least some of his triples back! Also Todd will once again be headling the Superstars on Ice show in Skokie on May 16th. Details on the schedule page.

February 15, 2006: The list of tour stops for the Canadian Stars on Ice your has been released - you can see it on the Schedule page. Contrary to what the CSOI website indicates, Todd will be on the tour again this year. Also as an Olympic bonus we've added a new fan question and answer to the site.

January 31, 2006: Several new articles and reviews from Stars on Ice added, plus a link to photos from the Lake Placid stop and a new Todd Answer. On the injury front, Todd reports that his shoulder is getting better, not perfect yet but better every day. His ankle on the other hand is still causing him some significant pain. He is frustrated with the injury preventing him from attempting triples and so is planning to get a cortizone shot this week to numb it so he can continue the tour with triples.

January 20, 2006: The Stars on Ice your is rolling on and reviews from several stops have been added to the archives and over 30 new photos from the World Team Challenge added to the 2005 photo gallery.

January 9, 2006: At the Portland show on Jan 7th Todd tripped and fell over one of the bags in the suitcase number. Unfortunately it wasn't a simple fall and Todd dislocated his shoulder. While it is still very painful, he was able to skate last night in Seattle and he's hopeful that three days of rest before the Sacramento show will get it healing up.

January 7, 2006: The 2005 Gallery has been updated with photos from Sarh Hughes & Friends. The 2005-2006 Archives has also been updated with links to photos from the World Team Challenge and a few other items.

Also Todd has another event on his schedule - a performance with Sato & Dengun in Detroit on February 5th (Superbowl Sunday). The event will take place at Campus Martius Park at 1pm.

December 28, 2005: Todd performed in his last show for 2005, Brian Boitano's Skating Spectacular, on December 17th in Las Vegas. Taped for telelvision, the Skating Spectacular will be on NBC on New Year's Day. Todd particicpated in the group opening which was skated to "Fever", a mini-group number with Brian Boitano and Nancy Kerrigan, and the finale which was a medley of Richard Marx tunes. Marx and his band performed live for part of the second act, and was playing for the trio and finale. For his solo numbers Todd performed to Alexander's Ragtime Band and to a new program to the old Patsy Cline song Crazy, this version being sung by Julio. Todd's recovery from ankle surgery is coming along well, and he landed very solid double axels and triple toes in this show. And as always his spins were very fast and centered. Todd heads out on tour with Stars on Ice after New Year's. The 2005-2006 Archives have been updated with some links to photos and reviews from this season.

December 14, 2005 The first two weeks of December have had Todd skating all over the place. First up was the World Team Challenge in London, Ontario. Though struggling with his jumps due to ankle problems Todd still managed two good performances of "Bolero" and "Alexander's RagTime Band." (see the event report below). Then Todd headed to Richmond, Virginia for the Holiday Celebration on Ice. Todd's first number was to "Oh Holy Night" performed live by Josh Gracin. His second was to his Garth Brook's "When You Come Back To Me Again" number. Both were very well done and received good audience response. The Archives have also been updated with individual photos from the event, full photo galleries coming soon.

Todd and Megan's wedding was filmed for the new reality special The Knot airing on Oxygen. A production team followed them around prior to the wedding and then filmed the wedding itself. The special will air on Oxygen December 18th and 19th, right after the World Team Challenge.

  World Team Challenge
Todd competed for Team USA in the Desjardin's World Team Challenge on December 4, 2005 in London ON. Each team was comprised of one man, one lady and one pair team. The rest of Team USA was made up of Caryn Kadavy and Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman. The competition was comprised of a "Technical" and "Artistic" program for each skater. For the tech program, the men were required to do at least 3 triple jumps, one of which was in combination. Todd skated 2nd amongst the men.

For his Tech program he skated his new SOI number BoleroTodd Eldredge is still recuperating from his ankle injury, and is not entirely healed. There is still quite a bit of pain when he jumps, especially on toe jumps . As a result, the technical side to this program was much weaker than would be expected from Todd: he doubled his first triple toe as well as his triple salchow attempt, but managed to successfully land a 3 toe/2 toe combination, but then singled his last axel. Choreographically, how ever, this program is destined to become a signature piece for Todd. It opened with Todd doing a school figure, and contained a lot of edge work and multiple spins down the center of the ice. Unfortunately, this being the technical program, his marks suffered from his jump problems. Score: 9.7 9.4 9.5 9.4 9.5 Total: 47.5

For the Artistic program, Todd skated to Alexander's Ragtime Band (his other new SOI number. His jump problems continued, for although he landed his double axel, he stepped out of his landing on a triple toe. However, there was a ton of great footwork, barrel rolls and spins. Score: Scores: 9.7 9.5 9.6 9.6 9.7 Total 96.2

Team USA finished third overall.

December 3, 2005 Todd's had a busy November with performances in Sarah Hughes & Friends and then off to rehearsals and opening night of Stars on Ice. For Sarah's show Todd skated his tour numbers from last year - skating excellent programs to "Let Me Entertain You" and "Forevermore." For the 20th anniversaty show of Stars on Ice, Todd has what are likely to be two fan favorite programs. The first is a fun light hearted number to "Alexander's RagTime Band" by Michael Feinstein. The second is a dramatic number to the classic "Bolero." Todd is also part of each of the group numbers and this year's tour has five: "Lovely Sping / I'd Do Anything For Love," "Dance Medley," "Overture / Comedy Tonight," "Too-Me Tango," and "Sing Sing Sing."

October 23, 2005: Todd's got one more event on his schedule for this year - World Team Challenge in London on December 4th. Complete details on the Schedule page.

September 29, 2005: Unfortunately the show Skating with the Troops has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. To make up for the bad news, we've listed the October fan question a little early. Remember, if you have a question you'd like to ask Todd, please submit it.

September 27, 2005: Todd's first performance of the season at the Weiss Foundation show was an important first step back from his surgery. He managed only doubles and says he still has some pain in the ankle, but it should be improving in the coming weeks. He's also added two more shows to his schedule. The first is Skating for the Troops in Philadelphia on October 1st and the second is the Scott Hamilton CARES gala in Cleveland on Nov 5th. Complete details on the schedule page.

September 10, 2005: Congratulations Todd and Meghan, who were married in Florida last weekend. There's also some new event's on Todd's schedule. He'll be skating at the Michael Weiss Foundation show on September 17th (Todd spent a few days earlier in August working with Michael to help prepare him for Turin). He'll also be making his first appearance at Brian Boitano's Skating Spectacular in LAs Vegas on December 17th. Also early dates are starting to appear for the Stars on Ice tour, so stay tuned to the Stars on Ice website as the full tour should be announced soon.

July 17, 2005: Todd's schedule for the upcoming season is begining to take shape. Currently he's scheduled for two Disson Skating shows: Sarah Hughes & Friends in Uniondale, NY and the Holiday Celebration on Ice in Richmond, VA. Also Todd will be returning to the Stars on Ice tour for another year. A surgery update and new fan question also added.

  Todd Back On The Ice
Todd is back on the ice, and currently doing some gentle stroking and spinning. He will start jumping in the next week or so.

May 21, 2005: The 2005 gallery is now open with over 100 photos from the US and Canadian Stars on Ice tours. Also we've got an update on Todd's surgery below.

  Todd Surgery Update
Todd's surgery on May 10th went well. He is in a cast and cannot put any weight on it for 5 weeks. Next step will be walking for three weeks, and then back on the ice the second week of July. Todd will be undergoing physical therapy starting next week. As of now the doctor is confident that Todd will have a good recovery and should have a painless season next year.

April 30, 2005: The Canadian Stars on Ice tour ends this week in British Columbia. Following tour Todd heads off to Boston for surgery on his ankle which will keep him off the ice for a while. It will be summer of rest and relaxation before the fall skating season begins again. There are reports of Todd being scheduled for some of the Disson Skating shows but nothing yet has been confirmed.

  Todd to have Surgery
Todd is having surgery on his ankle on May 10th in Boston by Dr. Mahlon Bradley. This is to correct an injury which he has been struggling with since the middle of last fall. He's looking forward to getting this over with and being healthy again!

April 6, 2005: They're done to the last few stops of the US tour and then Todd is off to Canada where Canadians Kurt Browning, Shae-Lynn Bourne, Jennifer Robinson and Jeff Buttle will join them for reahearsals. The tour will get tweaked a bit to include the four Canadians and then it's off across Canada. Once the tour is over, Todd will be taking the time to have surgery on his ankle which has been problematic all season (it's the reason Todd's had trouble with some of the harder triples this year). Recovery is supposed to be five weeks and then Todd can resume training again.

March 12, 2005: Several new reviews, photos and articles from Stars on Ice tour stops added to the Archives and Todd has answered another fan question. The biggest update was to the 2004 photo gallery with over 100 photos from Kenny Loggins on Ice and World Team Challenge added.

February 13, 2004: Several more Stars on Ice reviews and photos added.

December 19, 2004: It's been a busy few weeks for Todd with shows in New York and Virgina, and a competition in Manitoba. Event summaries can be found below. Also there's updates to the program page, the archives and over 50 new photos from Bocelli on Ice and Holiday Celebration on Ice are in the gallery!

  Todd on Today
Todd appeared on the Today Show on December 18th in New York skating to one of his solos from the Holiday show. Michael McDonald provided him with a special cut of the music to fit the time constraints. While there Todd also taped another segment (unknown if this was skating or just an interview) that will appear on December 25th.

  Holiday Celebration on Ice
Todd headlined Disson's holiday show with Kristi Yamaguchi. Todd was heavily featured in the opening ensemble number, spending the first part of the number alone on the ice before the rest of the cast joined him. Michael McDonald was the live musical entertainment, but only played part of the show. Both of Todd's numbers were put in the 2nd act, as the band played live for both of them. Todd opened the second act skating to All I Need. He closed the show skating to Peace, off of Michael McDonald's new Christmas CD. Todd has been sick for the last few days, so he didn't attempt any triple axles, but the rest of his jumps were solid, and his spins as fast as ever. Todd, along with Kristi was featured in the closing ensemble number, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, performed live by the band.

  Kenny Loggins on Ice
Kenny Loggins and his band performed live throughout the entire show, and had a great time interacting with the skaters. Todd had two solos, as well as being in the opening and closing ensemble numbers. Todd's first number closed Act I. He skated to Celebrate Me Home. Since he was still sick at the time, Todd didn't attempt any triple axles in his programs, but had a full retinue of other triples, including loop, toe, salchow and double axles. Todd's second act program was to Mama Don't Dance, an upbeat country/rock type program that was great fun. The entire cast closed the show to the classic Loggins tune, Footloose.

  World Team Challenge
Todd was joined on Team USA by Karen Kadavy and Ina and Zimmerman. The format was a technical program (with a minimum of 3 triples and one combination required) and an artistic program with no specific technical requirements. It was scored on the 10.0 scale, as per usual in pro comps. Todd used the same numbers he competed with in Ice Wars, but since he is trying to get over being sick, left out the triple axle. His Josh Groban tech program was clean, with a triple loop, triple salchow/double toe combination, and a solo triple toe, along with a double axle. He was second in this portion of the competition. He skated to Forevermore by Allesandro Safina for the artistic program. This is a classic dramatic, emotional type of program from Todd, filled with beautiful spins and spirals, including a change edge spiral and a back spiral! Todd popped his salchow, but completed a triple loop, a triple toe and a double axel. He finished 3rd in this portion of the competition, and Team USA finished 3rd overall.

December 2, 2004 Lots of updates to the current archives with information on Bocelli, Ice Wars and Stars on Ice!

  Imagination - Stars on Ice
Todd started his 3rd full year with Stars on Ice with the opening night in Lake Placid, NY on November 27th. Todd opens and closes the show this year, as well as taking part in group numbers and several transition skits. Todd's first number is a new program to a rock version of Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams. It's an upbeat, peppy number, and a bit of a new style for Todd. There is an all-guy group number again this year, called TKO with all the guys boxing and having a street brawl...sounds fun! Todd closes the show with the same piece he used as his artistic program at Ice Wars, Forevermore by Alessandro Safina. This is another powerful Italian ballad in the traditional, emotional style that has become Todd's forte. Todd had some jump troubles in both his solos, but fixed them all during retakes. With his bookend performances Todd looks to be strongly featured in this year's show.

  Ice Wars
Todd tied for 2nd amongst the men in this event, but alas Team USA lost to the World Team by 2 points. Todd debuted two new programs for this competition. For the technical program Todd skated to a french ballad (we believe...nobody recognized the music). He did a 3 axle, a 3 salchow, a 3 toe-2toe combo, and went for a 2nd triple axle, but fell. If he'd landed the 2nd 3 axle, Fran thought he'd be in first. He and Kurt tied for 2nd at 48.6.
Todd and Alexei went head to head in artistic round....and they tied. Todd performed to something described as Latin/Italian. Again, nobody could identify the music. It was a ballad, but not as soft, much more passionate than his first program. He landed a 3 axle, 3 salchow, 3 loop and 3 toe. Todd had a stumble on the footwork, but it was more difficult than he's done in the past...and this is a new number. Todd tied with Alexei for this portion of the competition, with Alexei winning for the men, and Todd ended up tied for 2nd overall with Kurt.

November 17, 2004: Todd made his first appearance of the season as a special guest star at Andrea Bocelli Tribute on Ice. See the mini-review below. Todd is currently in Lake Placid working hard to learn the choreography for this year's Stars on Ice tour. The theme is Imagination! Also the man who did the custom paint job on Todd's roadster has posted some photos on his website. It's an American flag design created by Todd.

  Bocelli Show Update
Todd performed his classic Il Mare program at Bocelli on Ice in Bridgeport, CT. He was billed as making a "Special Appearance". He arrived from Lake Placid SOI rehearsals the morning of the show, and thus wasn't able to be choreographed into the group opening and closing numbers. However, his rendition of Il Mare was the blockbuster performance of the night, receiving a standing ovation and applause that went on so long that they had to turn the lights off to get him off the ice! It was a very on night for him, hitting all his jumps including a huge triple axle. Todd swears this is the last time he'll be performing Il Mare......I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Todd Goes Pro at World Team Challenge!
Todd competed in his first all-pro event in Vancouver, BC on December 3rd. His participation in the competition meant finally losing his eligibility. Team USA came in third, but Todd won the men's event overall. He performed his two SOI pieces - "When You Come Back To Me Again" for the Tech. program and "Flamenco" for his Artistic program. While he came in 2nd to Alexei in the Tech portion by a narrow .2 a point, he won the Artistic program and finished first overall for the men. He landed triple axels in both programs, along with a host of other triples and a triple/double combination in the Tech. program. Welcome to the Pro ranks, Todd!

  Holiday Celebration on Ice
Todd performed in his second Disson show of the season, Holiday Celebration on Ice in Columbia, SC on December 2nd. Todd skated to a classical music style vocal version of the Lord's Prayer. It was a powerful and moving performance which received a standing ovation. Todd's second solo was his Garth Brooks SOI piece. Todd doubled his triple axel (but got it in the retake) but this did nothing to lessen the emotional impact, and Todd was given another enthusiastic standing ovation. He also participated in the ensemble opening and closing numbers, being paired with Roz Sumners and Alexei for footwork passes.

December 1, 2003: News on SOI opening night added, along with some reviews of the tour in the Archives. There's also a new question for December.

  Stars on Ice Opening Night
Stars on Ice had it's opening night in Lake Placid on November 29th and Todd was in excellent form. His first solo is a new program entitled "Flamenco" with music by Steve Stevens. It's a new look for Todd as he's never skated to this kind of music before. Reviews of this program have widely rangled from thsoe who loved it to those who hated it. His second number was to Garth Brook's "When You Come Back To Me Again" and it brought the audience to their feet! It was performed full out with loads of speed and passion. Todd was also in the two big group numbers, the first to a Jive medley that was very lighthearted and amusing. The second was to "Work 'n Time" that featured the skaters performing with push brooms and doing step tricks and swing arounds with the brooms - another excellent Christopher Dean routine. In addition Todd was also part of three mini bits about Time: "Metronome," "Jailbird," and "Rock Lesson" which were all well-done. The opening number is to "Sunrise" from the Grand Canyon Suite and the finale is to "Time" and both heavily feature Todd. See a complete review of the show in the 2003-2003 Archives.

For Kurt Browning's Gotta Skate III in Hamilton on the 18th, Kurt had each skater playing a character and Todd was "Big Daddy" the bouncer at Chez Shae's, the coolest, swinging-est club on the ice. Todd debuted two new programs, the first a short-program styled number called "Transition" and the second a slow dramatic number to Garth Brook's "When You Come Back To Me Again." He also performed a small group number to "Fever" with Jen Robinson and Jenni Meno along with opening and closing nimbers to high energy swing music. Kurt's Gotta Skate III will air December 21st from 4-6pm on NBC.

Todd A Suprise Nominee at USFSA Governing Council
Todd was a surprise nomination for Vice President at the USFSA Governing Council meeting in Norfolk, VA. He was nominated by Harry Gleason of the Winterhurst FSC. The nominations for vice-president were made to symbolically raise the issue of the lack of openness in the Nomination Committee and election process that is used by the Association. In two of the three contested elections the nominee from the floor made a short statement and then declined the nomination. In the third case, Todd accepted the nomination and ran for the Midwestern Vice-President office against the incumbent, Will Smith. Smith won the election 615 to 435, with 607 votes needed to win. Very impressive showing for Todd, however, given that he was a suprise nomination from the floor!

  Todd Supports the WSF
During Worlds, a press conference was held to announce the formation of the World Skating Federation. Spearheaded by Ron Pfenning and Sally Stapleford in reacation to the corruption in the ISU, the WSF has proposed to the IOC that it become the governing body figure skating. Todd was one of several elite skaters and pros who have shown support of the new organization. Todd was unable to appear at the press conference as he had an SOI show in Jacksonville Florida that day. So instead he taped a pre-recorded statement that outlined his support of the new organization. One of his key points was that other sports, basketball, baseball, etc all have governing associations run by people in the sport. The WSF would be just that, instead of the ISU which is run by speedskaters.

December 16, 2002: Update on Todd's announcement of going pro below. Archives updated with more news on the announcement plus information on the Hallmark Skaters' Championships.

  Todd Goes Pro!
Todd has announced his intention to turn pro. The decision to turn pro comes as the result of Todd's decision to sever all competative and promotional ties with the USFSA due to a dispute with the USFSA's current management, President Phyllis Howard and Executive Director John LeFevre. Turning pro kept Todd from defending his title at Nationals in Dallas. Todd stated that the dispute stems from the USFSA's withdrawal of it's contract offer for Todd to appear in 3 USFSA events, and also included promotional appearances on behalf of the USFSA and it's sponsors. If you are outraged by the recent, callous actions of the USFSA in regards to their relationship with Todd, join with TE.net and send a letter of protest! The March issue of Blades on Ice has an extensive interview with Todd about this issue - be sure to pick up your copy today for complete details!

  Todd Goes Pro!
Todd has announce his intention to turn pro. This announcement was made in an interview with Peter Carruthers which was aired on Friday, December 13th during the broadcast of the International Figure Skating Challenge. The decision to turn pro comes as the result of Todd's decision to sever all competative and promotional ties with the USFSA due to a dispute with the USFSA's current management, President Phyllis Howard and Executive Director John LeFevre.
Turning pro will keep Todd from defending his title at Nationals in Dallas this January. Todd stated that the dispute stems from the USFSA's withdrawal of it's contract offer for Todd to appear in 3 USFSA events, and also included promotional appearances on behalf of the USFSA and it's sponsors. In a December 13th, 2002 article by Phil Hersh in the Chicago Tribune Todd states, "I definitely think I was lied to by the leadership of the organization....I will have nothing more to do with USFSA events because I have too many bad feelings with these people."

  Todd at Hallmark Skaters' Championship
In a whirlwind day, Todd skated both a short program and interpretive free at the Hallmark Skaters' Championships in Columbus, OH on December 14th. Todd finished third at the event. His short program was to "Freedom Battle" and included a 3axel-2toe, 3lutz and 2axel. His interpretive free was to "Channel One Suite" and included a 3axel, 3salchow, 3toe, 3 spins and some seemingly endless footwork. While Todd may not have won the event, he was by far the crowd favorite!

December 10, 2002: Update on Holiday Celebration, Canadian Open, and Spotlight on Skating below. Also the Archives page has been updated with complete details on both events. Todd is now off to Columbus for the Hallmark Skaters' Championships - Good Luck Todd!

  Canadian Open & Holiday Celebration
Todd kept up a whirlwind cross country schedule last weekend, performing in Greenville Sourth Carolina on Thursday and then in Red Deer Alberta on Friday and Saturday! At the Holiday Celebration Todd performed two numbers, the first to "Ave Maria" by Russell Watson wearing the Exotica sparkly costume. He landed a 3axel, (fell out of it a bit), a 3salchow, 3loop and 3toe. His second number was "Freedom Battle", his short program for this year landing a 3axel, 3toe and 2axel. The program earned him the only full standing ovation of the night! At the Canadian Open, Todd performed his "Freedom Battle" short program but had a horrendous fall on the opening 3axel combo - Todd later said that he came down on the back of the blade and the heel of the blade got stuck in the ice. He did regroup and land a nice 3flip and 2axel plus some excellent straight line and circular footwork which left him in 3rd. For the IF, Todd chose his footwork heavy "Channel 1 Suite" with a gorgeous 3axel to open. The footwork has much improved from Lake Placid, being much faster and crisper. The program helped Todd move to 2nd overall behind Alexei Yagudin.

Todd on the Cover of Spotlight on Skating
Todd will be gracing the cover of the January 2003 issue of Spotlight on Skating.   December 3, 2002: Updates on opening night of Stars on Ice. The Archives contain five reviews.
  Stars on Ice Opening Night!
Stars on Ice has completed it's opening night in Lake Placid! This year is an excellent show, harkening back to the glory days of SOI. Todd has two cold spots plus one group number. His first solo is to "Channel 1 Suite" by Buddy Rich. It's a great jazzy number whose main focus is on footwork. He second number is to "Miserere" by Andrea Bocelli and is along the lines of classic Todd. His group number is to make a lengthy speech for moves by Sale & Pelletier and Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze while still doing some footwork and other skating himself. In the opening to "Orin Does Ozzy" Todd is the first skater on the ice wearing light blue, and he's also in the finale to "I Can't Stop." See the Archives for several reviews!

November 20, 2002: Though the cast is a bit different (both Steven Cousins and Tara Lipinski are now out with injuries) Stars on Ice rehearsals are under way in Lake Placid. This update we've got new details on the two new programs from Scott's show, plus all kinds of photos, reviews and news articles in the Archives!

  Todd at Nationals?
While it may seem that 2002 was Todd's last Nationals, Todd has officially submitted his paperwork to compete at the 2003 Nationals in Dallas. The USFSA granted his request to retain his eligibility and sanctioned his participation with Stars on Ice. According to coach Richard Callaghan, no decision has been made to compete or not compete and that Todd is just keeping his options open. Competiting at Nationals would however conflict with several of the Stars on Ice tour dates.

October 16, 2002: Short review from Kristi's Salute to Gold added.

Salute to Gold!
Thanks the wonders of cell phones we've got a quick review from Kristi's show in Florida. Fran took a few moments post show to call in a quick report for fans curious about Todd's first event of the season
In the first act Todd skated to some instrumental by Michael Smith. This will be his short program for this year. Todd stumbled across it whilst rifling through the local CD shops according to Richard (who unfortunately could not remember the song title). Costume was sort of a multi-hued gray shirt, Fran said it was really hard to describe under the spotlights. Program highlights included a 3axel and 3toe plus some of that 'up-on-toepic' footwork similar to last year's Carmina Burana straightline sequence. But the big suprise of the program was it included barrel rolls!
Todd's second number was to "Miseri" by Andrea Bocelli. I was sort of classic Todd with a full passionate performance a la "Il Mare." Jumps were 3loop, 3sal, 3axel and 3toe. And more importantly Todd has a new costume - and it's not black! In fact it's burgundy! Looked like velvet pants with a sparkly shirt.
Other highlight of the night was that Todd mc'd the retakes and did quite an excellent job. Was very relaxed and had everyone laughing and joking.

October 8, 2002: A review from the Duluth skating clinic added. Also the dates for the Canadian Stars on Ice tour have been announced - they're listed on the Schedule page.

Stars on Ice!
The cast of Stars on Ice is currently in the midst of rehearsals for this years tour in Simsbury, CT. So far the only big news is that the opening number is set to Ozzy Osborne and the finale to Wil Smith. Right now the Ozzy number is set to open with one of Todd's trademark huge triple axels! Todd thinks his fans will really like both numbers. There's also an all-male ensemble number being worked on.

September 26, 2002: More reviews and photos from the Philadelphia Clinic added to the Archives. Also the 1999-2000 Archives page is now open. Todd is currently in Simsbury, CT at the Stars on Ice rehearsals. It's Great to Skate!
Chevrolet has announced that it will sponsor a series of six "It's Great to Skate" clinics that will be taught by Todd and his coach Richard Callaghan. The clinics are done via sweepstakes, so to participate you must enter and win. Each clinic will choose 240 participants who will skate a 30 minute lesson with Todd in groups of 60. To enter fill out the form on the official contest website at http://chevyskatingfestivalsweepstakes.com/
In addition to the clinic itself, each event will also have an outdoor Festival in the adjoining parking lot area from 11am-4pm with games, giveaways and other activities. The festivals are open to the public and anyone is welcome. Todd will be signing autographs at each from 1pm-2pm. The skating clinics will be for the winning participants and will also take place during this time frame. There will be a limited number of people allowed inside to watch the skating clinic, starting with parents and close friends of the skating participants. Therefore, there is no guarantee that anyone will be able to see Todd while he's on the ice teaching unless you happen to know one of the winners as well.

Jumps For Joy
Todd spent this season as a spokesperson for the Suite Dream's Project. Jumps For Joy was a pledge program through which fans could honor each successful triple or quad jump Todd lands in competition by making a donation to the Suite Dreams Project. The Suite Dreams Project was launched in January 2001 with one goal in mind: to bring comfort and joy to children with serious medical conditions by creating a healing environment in a "suite" of their dreams. Volunteers have already completed many fantasy bedrooms, and the Suite Dreams Project is now partnering with area hospitals to develop fantasy lobbies, play areas, and treatment and recovery rooms. During the 2001-2002 season, Todd landed 70 triples in competition, and generous donations from Todd's fans raised $1,277.50. A huge thank you to all of Todd's fans who participated and supported Todd's efforts to raise funds for this worthy cause!

A number of articles about Todd's retirement were added, plus some great photos - including one from the Olympic Torch relay.

February 15, 2002: Congratulations Todd on an amazing long program! Rebounding from his disappointing short, Todd turned in his most impressive long program of the season, landing 8 triple jumps! Though he fell on the opening quad, he put that behind him and went on to land 8 other triples: 3axel-3toe, 3lutz, 3flip, 3loop-3toe, 3sal, 3axel! The spins were as always an amazing blur and the overall presentation of the program was wonderful! It was enough to bring him up to 6th overall. Several articles and photos added, and we should have an on-scene report available on the next update.

February 14, 2002: Links to several articles and photos added plus the autograph signing info.

Get an autograph from Todd!
Todd will be signing autographs in the Olympic Square in Salt Lake City on February 17th. We haven't got a confirmed time yet, but as soon as we do we'll post it here!

February 13, 2002: Sometimes things are just fated not to be. Last night's short program was unfortunately not one of Todd's better outtings. Skating in the final group, with a slew of clean quad short programs already ahead of him, Todd opted for the quad version of his short program. Todd flipped out of the landing on the quad, flipped out and two footed the 2toe on the combo, fell on a badly leaning 3axel, clean 3lutz from footwork. Rounding out the jumps were nice straight line and serpentine footwork patterns and the usual compliment of gorgeous fast, centered spins. Todd is currently in 9th place.
The draw for the long program has taken place and the final two groups go in this order: 13 - Eldredge, 14 - Stojko, 15 - Weiss, 16 - Dambier, 17 - Dinev, 18- Liu, 19 - Li, 20 - Honda, 21 - Plushenko, 22 - Goebel, 24 - Abt, 25 - Yagudin.
As the famous quote goes "Whatever doesn't kill us only makes us stronger" - good luck to Todd in Thursday's long program.
Five photos and twenty article links added.

February 12, 2002: Another slew of article links posts, these mainly previewing tonight's short programs.

February 11, 2002: Links to multiple practice reports, photos and articles added. Don't forget to catch Todd on the Today Show tomorrow between 7-10am.

February 10, 2002: Then men's draw has taken place, and Todd has drawn an excellent position. He'll be 25th of the 29 skaters to go. The other top men have drawn: 1-Weiss, 6-Sandhu, 14-Yagudin, 15-Honda, 18-Plushenko, 20-Goebel, 24-Abt, 29-Stojko. With most of the top contenders skating before Todd, it looks like he will be able to play the strategy game on whether or not to attempt the quad in the short program. Good luck Todd! Nineteen articles added were added to the Events page.

February 8, 2002: The Olympic Opening Ceremonies have successfully come to a close. Todd was one of eight athletes selected to carry the World Trade Center flag into the stadium. The flag was the one that was flying over the WTC on September 11th and was rescued from the rubble. Athletes were chosen to represent each Olympic discipline and Todd represented the figure skaters. There are a number of articles linked that quote Todd on how great an honor this was for him since he had been in New York on that day. The day before Todd also successfully took his turn carrying the Olympic Torch. He ran his segment in Salt Lake and was positively beaming the entire time. We've got a report from that night, and photos will be coming soon! Twenty-five article and nineteen photo links added.

February 7, 2002: Event section updated with 23 new article and 4 photograph links. Reports from various forums indicate that Todd seems to be having some good practice sessions, and has landed at least one 4toe-2toe and one 4toe-3toe.

January 26, 2002: Todd to carry torch in Salt Lake! Todd was originally scheduled to carry the Olympic torch in Michigan, but unfortunately Todd was already going to be in L.A. for Nationals. Thanks to some last minute rescheduling, Todd will not be carrying the torch in the Olympic city. He is scheduled for around 7pm on Thursday February 7th - the night before the Opening Ceremonies! You can see the detailed route plan here. Todd is currently in residence in Utah - he headed out this weekend for several days of on-ice training at altitude before he moved into the Olympic village and begins official practices on Feb 5th.

Also the Olympic television schedule has been announced - details on the Information page.

January 16, 2002: Some more article and photo links from Nationals added along with a great photo of Todd posing with his gold medal!

January 14, 2002: Several more articles on Nationals added. Newspaper heads up: Olympic Sponsor Chevrolet plans to run a full page color ad in USA Today congratulating Todd on his 6th National Title. Most likely location is the back page of the Sports section on the Thursday 1/17 edition (but do check before then - if you spot it let us know!)

January 12, 2002: Several photos and articles from Todd's long program added.

January 11, 2002: While Todd's long program at Nationals may not be the best he's capable of, it was one of his best of the season. Todd popped his opening quad to a triple but then went on to land a 3axel/2toe, 3lutz, 3loop/3toe, 3salchow, 3axel and a 3flip with a step out. As always his spins were the best in the business. His technical Mark's were 5.7 to 5.9, but it was the solid 5.9's across the board that put him in first place with all nine judges. Twenty-five articles added to the events page.

January 10, 2002: Congratulations to Todd for capturing his sixth National title! With a near-perfect emotional free-skate, Todd won the event over Goebel with close technical marks and higher presentation ones. Full details will come tomorrow - after your faithful webmaster has finished celebrating!

January 10, 2002: A few more articles about the short programs added as well as Fran's report from Wednesday morning's practice.

January 9, 2002: The senior mens short program at Nationals was held last night, and Todd came through with flying colors! He is currently tied with Goebel for first place going into the long program. Skating to "Carmina Burana / Mythodea", Todd landed a huge 3axel/3toe, 2axel and 3lutz (broke at the waist, but clean). He received required element marks of 5.4 to 5.7, and presentation marks of 5.7 to 5.9. For the long program TOdd has drawn 17th - the second last skater of the night. One dozen new articles and Fran's report added to Events section.

January 8, 2002: It was a big news day for Todd fans at practice yesterday. It seems that Todd was given some strong advice by the ISU judges after the Grand Prix Final to aim for the 3axel/3toe combo instead of a quad combo in the short program. Todd practiced a new version of his SP, but no decision has yet been made as to which version he'll skate. Several updates to the Events page, recommended reading is the L.A. Times article "Five-Time U.S. Champion Eldredge Knows His Way".

January 7, 2002: Nationals practices still going on in L.A. See the Events page for Fran's report on day two's practice session. Also the press has been in high gear with several lengthy articles appearing on Todd. The draw for the SP has taken place (this year the competitors chose replica Oscar statutes) and Todd has drawn 4th of 18. Of his main competition, Weiss is 9th and Goebel 14th.

January 5, 2002: Practice for Nationals has begun and Todd made his first appearance, doing a run-through of a rechoreographed "Lord of the Rings" - see Fran's reports on the Events page for more details. Also, the NBC's "Today Show" is listing Todd as appearing on their "Road to Salt Lake City" profile on Monday the 7th, and ABC's "Good Morning America" has him listed for Wednesday. Unless they've got a tv crew in L.A., these are most likely pre-taped spots.

January 4, 2002: U.S. Nationals are just around the corner, and to prepare for the event links to several fans reporting sites added to the event page. Also this site will be featuring reports from Fran Buhman who's in L.A. for the week.

December 31, 2001: For Nationals Todd is scheduled to be in practice group B along with Villareal, Lyasek, Smith, Calvillo, and Bradley. Todd was scheduled to carry the Olympic torch in Detroit On January 6th or 7th, but unfortunately he'll be in Los Angeles for Nationals at that time. Alternate times/locations are currently being looked for. Updates to both the Events and Info pages.

December 26, 2001: Some new articles and a new photo added to the Events page. Also Todd is scheduled to appear on NBC's The Today Show on December 31st.

December 20, 2001: Several new articles and photos added to the Events page. Jump total for Jumps For Joy charity project updated.

December 16, 2001: Todd has completed the Grand Prix Final in Kitchener and finished in fourth place behind Yagudin, Plushenko and Goebel. The format of one SP and 2 LPs in two days was exhausting and it showed on most of the skaters but Todd turned in two good performances and one very good one. His SP was 3flip-2toe, 3lutz, 3axel and of course wonderful spins. It also featured the new Jeff Billings costume of black pants and a black shirt with 3 vertical red stripes on his right chest and 3 strips around the right cuff. His first LP to "1492" was one of the highlight programs, drawing the best crowd reaction of the night. His second LP was the full version of "Lord of the Ring," also in new costume - this time black suede shawl collar over black shirt. There were no quads for Todd in this event, but overall it was a nice outing. Updates added to the Events page include marks and several articles. Reports and photos to follow shortly.

December 10, 2001: Todd debuted a scaled back version of his new long program to "Lord of the Rings" this weekend at the USFSA Winter Open. His elements included: 3loop, 3axel-2toe, 3lutz, 3sal, Russian split-flip, 2axel, 3flip along with the usual compliment of fast spins and some new nifty footwork. He received the highest marks of the mens field with Technical: 6.0, 5.9, 6.0, 5.9, 6.0, and Presentation: 6.0, 6.0, 6.0, 5.9, 6.0. Pretty impressive for the first time out! Next up is the Grand Prix Final in Kitchener from December 12th to 16th. Updates to both the Events and Information sections.

December 6, 2001: The debut of the this site! Todd's next event is the USFSA Winter Open on December 8th in Auburn Hills, MI. Todd has also qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Kitchener, ON on Dec 13th-16th. At this event Todd will be debuting his new ISU long program set to music from the soundtrack "Lord Of The Rings".
